It’s EO Day on 20th June. According to the Employee Ownership Association EO Day is a day designated to ‘empower the EO community and its supporters to raise awareness of employee ownership’s proven benefits’.
That’s great and in anticipation of a National Day of Celebration can I offer my congratulations and good wishes to all the other Employee-Owned Businesses in the UK who, like The Nursery Research & Planning, have recognised the unique benefits of employee ownership.
The thing is, for us at The Nursery, every day is EO day – singling out one day implies the other 364 are less important.
So whilst we don’t have events planned for Friday, we are going to crack on with all our EO driven initiatives that run throughout the year:
- Having had a dedicated partner rep for the last four years, our latest rep, @Zara Marouf is doing a cracking job, we have now launched a wider partner voice group who will meet regularly to hold management to account and drive employee first initiatives. First meeting of course will be on EO Day.
- Our partner survey goes out shortly to gauge the mood amongst partners and flag all the ways in which we can or should continue to invest in our most precious assets (our people)
- The Partner Voice group have proposed we put in a submission for Market Research Society ‘Best Place to work’ award. We were lucky enough to win it 3 years ago – but the team feel our culture has moved on sufficiently to justify enough tilt. It is a source of pride that our employees have proactively made this call.
- The continuous overhaul of employee benefits goes on – with our new pension provider in place from next month, with a range of flexible options for all partners.
- And one of our most important employee-driven initiatives - our BCorp certification is due for renewal – so our BCorp team are putting the finishing touches to this year’s certification and crossing fingers and toes that we can get this over the line.
We endeavour to make our partners proud to work for The Nursery – that is a 365 day a year job – so I had better crack on with it.
