Effectiveness Really Matters

CEO David Alterman reflects on creating research that drives effective, award-winning marketing for clients

In October, our Nursery team were able to celebrate with two of our most valued clients, Yorkshire Tea and Vanguard, and associated agencies as they were recognised with gold and bronze respectively at the IPA Effectiveness Awards.

We’ve won our share of awards over the years – there are ever-increasing numbers to choose from – with the MRS, AURA, Quirks, APG amongst many others finding opportunities to recognise the performance of research agencies.

But my heart always skips a little bit faster when we get recognised for our contribution to effective marketing campaigns.

Don’t get me wrong, winning MRS Best Place to Work a couple of years ago was a huge vindication for the efforts we have made to get the culture right at The Nursery. And we couldn’t do what we do without attracting, developing and retaining the best people in the business.

But when your research has been identified as central to a client’s proven business success – well that frankly is why we are in business.

As Ben Newbury, Yorkshire Tea put it ‘At the heart of this award entry lies the essence of Yorkshire Tea: "A place where everything's done proper." ‘

And Rebecca Bond at Vanguard added ‘This long-term brand building strategy, consistently executed and measured over multiple channels, is the key to building Vanguard’s culture of effectiveness and delivering on our investor-centric mission’.

Having spent a career in research you hang out for these opportunities to make a difference. Thanks Ben, Rebecca and team. Looking forward to the next ones.
